Deep Creek Lake Snow

The snow if beautiful at Ridgeview today, looks like we got about 18-20 inches.  The calm after the storm and everything looks so untouched.  The frost line half way up the hill is very calming.  Jeff is out XC skiing, he just can't resist playing with the groomer.  He promised to email me some pics so I could post the beauty.  We'll  see if he does.  It looks like we might just have a white Christmas this year. 

First Signs of Snow at Deep Creek Lake

It's official, yesterday marked the first snow flakes of the season to fall in Garrett County.  The flurries were beautiful, even for me who doesn't much like cold weather, and at time pretty blizzard like.  At one time I could hardly see the Ridgeview Valley barn from my office window.  Sorry, I didn't get any pictures.  Today, rain.  Tonight, rain and then more snow and even a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY!  That's early, but I kind of figured we would have an early winter and I won't be surprised if it is a tough one.  Garrett College Weather even says possible power outages, thank goodness we have a generator and a wood stove.  So, dig out your cross country skis and I will get the groomer ready for a fun winter.

September Already??

I can't believe that today is the first day of September.  The kids are back in school today, I know this because I got stuck behind two school buses on my way to the gym this morning.  Now I look out my window and see that the maple trees are already starting to change colors.  The temps this morning were in the low 40's, Brrrr!!  But, I have to say fall is my favorite time of the year!  The days are warm and the nights are cool and the colors are brilliant.  Today is probably a perfect day!  Don't forget to mark you calendars for the 1st annual Garrett Mentors Barn Dance scheduled for September 19 in the barn.  Cost is $25.00 if you purchase early or $30.00 at the door.  Price includes a plate of yummy Archie's BBQ. 
We are also still raising money for TAY.  Coldwell Banker Deep Creek Realty donated a 2 night stay in one of their vacation homes to TAY to raffle off.  Tickets are $1.00 each and the drawing will be Autumn Glory weekend.  The house is called "Laurel Highlands" and is a beautiful split-lakefront home located on Glendale Road with all of the cool amenities, hot tub, pool table and 7 flat screens.  Let me know if you would like some tickets.
