Can you believe it, the first snow fall of the season and we get 7 inches and temps that feel like 17 degrees with 3 more inches in the forecast. Here is a picture that Pete took for me of the snow accumulation. This photo is Pete & Rosie's deck, it is protected from the wind and gives a true measurement of snow fall. All of the decks and porches at my office are exposed to the wind and do not give accurate accumulations. The beautiful wet wintry mix that has moved through the county seems to have caught us off guard well at least it surprised me. Garrett County schools had a 2 hour delay while neighboring counties in West Virginia canceled all together. Snow plow trucks are out in full force cleaning up the streets and now I know that my 4-wheel drive works great in my new Jeep. The out of the ordinary early snow fall up here in the mountains has everyone talking. Read Frank Roylance's blog from The Baltimore Sun . I have always been told that when the fruits and veggies are plentiful, look out, it's going to be a long winter. I don't think anyone in Garrett County would complain about that.
