Ridgeview Valley Announces the Opening of the Adventure Trail

The first section of the Adventure Trail has been completed.  The trail begins in the scenic valley near the location of the community center and meanders through tall hardwoods, across two small wooden bridges spanning the natural protected wetlands, and out into the rolling meadow of the bottom of the valley and back to the 100+ year old restored farmhouse, currently used as the Preview Center.  This portion of the trail is relaxing and tranquil as it meanders along the relative flat portion of the valley.  This new section is approximately 1/2 mile long, however more than five additional miles are planned over an increasingly difficult terrain, pleasing all activity levels.  The compacted stone surface is great for walking, running, biking and even cross-country skiing in winter.

Sandy Bello, Sales Director for Ridgeview Valley

Ridgeview Valley announces the appointment of Sandy Bello as Sales Director.  Sandy brings a ten-year history as a sales agent at the top of the market in the Baltimore/Washington area, based in Howard County, Maryland, which includes the planned community of Columbia as well as adjoining Ellicott City.  Sandy was among the top sales agents in the county every year and often at the top in the Re/Max brokerage with which she was associated.

Retiring to Garrett County several years ago with her husband Michael, Sandy is a co-owner of Bello's Portraits, a business she built with her husband, which has grown from a part-time business to a full -time studio with a full-time manager.  The photography business has helped her in many ways, primarily in appreciating the beauty of Garrett County, as well as providing an in-depth introduction to both our local and tourist communities.  Prior to her real estate business, Sandy ran two retail stores in the Baltimore/Washington area with the same high level of success winning many national awards.

Paula Thomas Appointed as Home Owner's Association Manager

Ridgeview Valley is delighted to announce the appointment of Paula Thomas as Manager of the Home Owners Association.  A native of Garrett County, Paula brings a wealth of experience in project management, office management and real estate related activities to her position.  She is also a licensed real estate agent.  Ridgeview Valley is delighted to welcome Paula to her new role.

Model Home Open at Garrett County's Ridgeview Valley Community

We are delighted to announce the opening of the first model home built by Gosnell, Inc.  This beautifully furnished model home features many green applications including a geothermal heating/cooling system.  Other environmentally and economically sound features include a whole house tank-less hot water system, and an additional insulation package, with sound control between floors and interior partitions.  The model enhances the farm heritage of the community with its magnificent barn wood beams, stacked stone fireplaces, custom wood staircase and distressed cabinetry.  The model home is open daily 11-4.

 

Ridgeview Valley Announces the Completion of the Open-Air Amphitheater

Ridgeview Valley recently completed construction of the open-air amphitheater.  The new amphitheater is terraced into the hillside facing the entrance of the original "Harvey" barn with the entrance of the barn forming the stage for live performances.  Well over one hundred years old, the barn once used to store hay for the animals raised on the farm and is now the perfect location for summer-time community events.  Plans for concerts and various performances are in the works.  The first event is a kick off concert on September 27, 2008 featuring Wolf Creek Session.  This event is for the benefit of Cindy's Fund, the local breast cancer awareness foundation.  Wolf Creek Session is an acoustical blend of Appalachian and Celtic music.

What's Flying Around Ridgeview Valley

 

This morning I got a call from the Ridgeview Valley Preview Center that an angry “bee” was flying overhead, and that I needed to check this out.  As I drove onto Gravelly Run Road I spotted a helicopter through the trees with something dangling from its belly.

I stopped and took the above photograph.  As the helicopter rose a strange contraption emerged from the trees as shown in the next photograph.

 

Watching it at work for a few minutes, it became clear that this was the local power utility company clearing the power lines from ingrown and overgrown tree branches.  The contraption was a set of 10 circular saws that were slicing branches with great ease. The helicopter was working in areas that were not easily, if impossibly, accessible by a truck and crew.  These power lines were on the most western edge of the Ridgeview Valley property.
