Well the 4th of July may be behind us, but there is still a lot of fun activities going on here at Deep Creek Lake. This weekend marks the 10th Annual Art in the Park to be held at the Deep Creek Lake State Park located on State Park Road. This two day event will showcase the work of sum forty-plus artists. The variety of artistic and hand made pieces include jewelry, photography, fused glass and more. All of the artwork on display is for purchase. There will be food vendors and fun activities. And while you are there don't forget to visit the Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center.
The builders are moving on with the progress of the two new constructions in Ridgeview Valley. The first home, built by Legacy Homes Corp. already looks like a house with the walls up and rafters on. The second home, built by Gosnell Inc. is already on its way to a completed sub-floor. Take a look at today's pics.
Garrett County Department of Public Utilities is continuing their work on the completion of the public water system that will supply all of McHenry. As I have mentioned in the past, Ridgeview Valley has donated the land for the county to build the 500,000 gallon water tank that will help supply McHenry with public water. They are now at work on this project and WOW I didn't realize how big a 500,000 gallon water tank is. Pete was up around the work site yesterday afternoon and sent me these pictures.
There is a lot of activity going on this summer in Ridgeview. I invite you to stop by and take a look for your self. I will get more pics of the two new constructions to post.
It seems like this year is flying by, here it is already the 4th of July already. This is my favorite time of the year, sunny, hot days & fireworks. There is a lot going on this week. Seems like the weekend is starting on Wednesday, July 1 with Tom Watt "The Buffet Man" at Wisp Resort. Admission to this concert is free, just bring a blanket or chair and get into the summer spirit with the sounds of "Buffet". Who doesn't love Jimmy Buffet? Friday night is another great concert at Broadford Park before the fireworks featuring Brother Short. Come early and stay late for the fireworks and live entertainment, starting at 5pm. Friday night also kicks off 2 nights of bronco busting and bull riding at the Garrett County Fairgrounds with Dave Martin's Championship Rodeo. Don't miss Accident's Homecoming on July 4th with the parade starting at 11am, then stay for a chicken dinner at the fire hall. My aunt and uncle are cooking up the chicken so I know that it will be good!! Stop by Annie's Kitchen then for some yummy desserts, I highly recommend the grilled chocolate sandwich, YUM! Next stop by Ridgeview Valley for live entertainment by All Things Common, craft vendors and Lakeside Creamery ice cream. Gee this sounds like the day of all eating!! Then your off to Garrett Community College for the Independence Day Concert starting at 7:30 with the Garrett Community Concert Band and Garrett Choral Society concert, celebrating patriotism with pride. Then finish the day off with the fantastic mountainside fireworks set off Wisp Mountain. If you get a chance watch them by boat, it's mesmerizing. Have a Happy & Safe 4th of July!
Ridgeview Valley has been a scurry of activity this week.
